# The Polaris Council

The Council brings the companies building applied AI into the same room as the people writing the rules they will have to prove they follow.

## Why it exists

Applied AI is changing who does the work, who keeps the value and who carries the risk when an agent gets something wrong. Those questions are being settled now, in contracts, procurement rules and regulation, often before founders and policymakers have spoken to each other.

The Council exists to have that conversation early and in private: founders, investors and enterprise buyers alongside parliamentarians, regulators and officials, working through what governance, evidence and sovereignty need to look like in practice.

It is not a lobbying body or a trade association. It is a convening, and its work is informed by the two Polaris theses, [Investing in the Harness](/theses/investing-in-the-harness/) and[Agents of Sovereignty](/theses/agents-of-sovereignty/).

## The first convening

The Council convened on St George's Day, 23 April 2026, at Speaker's House, Westminster.

Each convening is private, small and focused on what needs to be decided next.

## What the Council works on

* What evidence a regulator, auditor or insurer will accept when an agent acts on a company's behalf.
* What people, companies and states can authorise, refuse, inspect and take with them.
* How European and UK rules on data, AI and cloud switching change where value sits.
* Where agents settling value on a shared record genuinely needs one.
